I am a freelance cookery writer and home economist/food stylist with 15 years experience. After training at Leith's School of Food and Wine back in '93/'94, I started my foodie career working for Delia Smith, learning the skills of diligent recipe testing, creative recipe development, food writing, magazine editorial work and book editing, as well as the art of food styling for photography and television, along the way.
Key interests
I have a particular interest in healthy eating, as I can't bear the idea of dull diet food when it's so easy to create delicious high-flavour low-fat meals. I have written 6 cookery books for WeightWatchers, my most recent title being the hugely popular Fabulous and Filling, and I co-authored a GI/GL cookery book with nutritionist Rachael Hill, titled Power Food, for which I provided all the recipe content, backed up by Rachael’s sound nutritional advice.
Current work focus
I’m the cookery consultant for best magazine, and I regularly create recipes for BBC Good Food magazine. I’m also a recipe tester for a handful of magazines and publishers, double-checking the work of other writers to ensure that recipes will work first time for readers (a very necessary task to avoid disappointment!).
